Want to change the icons on your map? Select Service Association from the Options menu to associate icons with AppleTalk services.
Want to find a particular node on the map? Click on the map window, then simply start typing the name of the node. When you stop typing, LANsurveyor will scroll to and highlight a node with that name.
Want to find all the AppleShare servers, including Personal File Sharing nodes? Select Find Service from the Navigate menu. Select “AFPServer” from the list, then click Find All. All AppleShare file servers will be highlighted on the map.
Want to add an TCP/IP node, for example, a UNIX workstation, to the LANsurveyor map? Select a network segment to which to attach the node, then select Create Object from the Edit menu.
Try creating a new template report by selecting New Template from the Report menu. Fill in the spreadsheet-style report by selecting map nodes (Add) and adding report topic columns (Add Field).
Try querying the Neon Responder running on one of your MacOS machines. For example, to query for the machine’s TCP/IP configuration, double-click on one of the machines, then select Neon_Responder->Networking.
You haven’t installed the Neon Responder on any MacOS nodes! Try installing the Neon Responder INIT on one or more machines. LANsurveyor can query the responder for IP address, lists of applications and much more.
Want a list of AppleTalk services present on your network? Select one or more AppleTalk map nodes, then select Service List from the Report menu.
LANsurveyor has Poll Lists which are used for up/down testing. Select one or more map objects, then select New Poll List from the Windows menu.
LANsurveyor has contextual menus! Try holding down the Control key and clicking on a map object.
Try double-clicking on a map object in order to query for information about the object.
